About Apple Tarts Feminised

Cured properly and opened cold, Apple Tarts leads with caryophyllene: dry black pepper that catches at the back of the throat, clove and warm wood underneath it. Underneath it myrcene adds depth and weight low down in the profile, and it reads mid-palate rather than on the first pass. This 85/15 indica tests at 24% THC, but potency is the least interesting number here: what separates Apple Tarts from the others on the same shelf is how the aroma behaves across a cure, and that is a question of storage and patience rather than genetics alone.

Growing it for the nose rather than the scales

Chasing terpene expression in Apple Tarts pulls against chasing yield, and it is worth knowing which one you are doing before you start. The Caryophyllene/Myrcene/Bisabolol profile does its best work in living soil, where the microbial side produces secondary compounds a bottle cannot. That is easier here than it sounds: decent peat-free compost and worm castings are a garden centre purchase in most British towns.

Through the 8 weeks (indoor) of bloom, stop foliar spraying after week two — anything landing on developing trichomes is still there at harvest and you will taste it. The final three weeks decide which terpenes dominate the cured flower: nights held at 16-18°C push caryophyllene forward, while a warmer finish protects the lighter bisabolol notes at the top.

The cure is where most of the flavour is lost in this country, and the reason is the weather. A 10-14 day hang wants 15-18°C at 55-60% relative humidity, which a British autumn will not give you in a spare room — a temperature-controlled cupboard or a wine fridge set to 16°C solves it for the price of one wasted harvest. Then into glass, burped twice a day for the first fortnight. The myrcene layer that makes this one worth growing does not appear until somewhere between weeks three and four in the jar.

Flowering: 8 weeks (indoor). Indoor yield: 375–625 g/m². Outdoor yield: 400–600 g/plant. Rated intermediate difficulty.

Flavour, aroma and effect

Apple Tarts arrives in stages. The first draw at 24% THC brings dry pepper that registers at the back of the throat. The creative, focused, calm character follows within minutes, starting as weight behind the eyes and working down through the shoulders and chest. By about a quarter of an hour it has become a physical stillness — not sedation so much as a strong disinclination to get up. Two to three hours at a moderate dose. The myrcene underneath adds body and depth beneath the rest.

Terpene breakdown

Primary: Caryophyllene · Secondary: Myrcene · Tertiary: Bisabolol. This combination turns up often in cultivars that win things, and it is usually the one growers comment on when a jar is opened for the first time after curing. Caryophyllene anchors the aroma, myrcene occupies the middle, and bisabolol sits behind both — which is the part that separates this strain from others sharing its primary terpene.

Who it suits

Who does well with Apple Tarts? Indoor growers who want the timeline under their own control. Outdoor growers who want to choose when flowering starts. Anyone with the room and the patience to veg it properly before flipping. Difficulty is rated intermediate, which means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without demanding a laboratory.

Royal King Genetics Filial Programme — four-generation pheno fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Four rounds of filial stabilisation on the Apple Tarts cross. The indica relaxation profile expression sits uniform; pheno-to-pheno yield variation runs within ±10% of the published numbers.

Breeding Goal

Cull off-type phenos in Apple Tarts through filial selection.

Selection Focus

Chosen for purple/dark expression where it shows, dense bud structure and a true indica relaxation profile.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics breeding facility — pollen from internally selected sibling males of the recurrent parent.
