About Gelato 33 Auto

Cured properly and opened cold, Gelato 33 leads with caryophyllene: dry black pepper that catches at the back of the throat, clove and warm wood underneath it. Underneath it limonene adds a bright edge that keeps the nose from turning heavy, and it reads mid-palate rather than on the first pass. This 60/40 hybrid tests at 23% THC, but potency is the least interesting number here: what separates Gelato 33 from the others on the same shelf is how the aroma behaves across a cure, and that is a question of storage and patience rather than genetics alone.

Growing it for the nose rather than the scales

Chasing terpene expression in Gelato 33 pulls against chasing yield, and it is worth knowing which one you are doing before you start. The Caryophyllene/Limonene/Myrcene profile does its best work in living soil, where the microbial side produces secondary compounds a bottle cannot. That is easier here than it sounds: decent peat-free compost and worm castings are a garden centre purchase in most British towns.

Through the 60-65 days of bloom, stop foliar spraying after week two — anything landing on developing trichomes is still there at harvest and you will taste it. The final three weeks decide which terpenes dominate the cured flower: nights held at 16-18°C push caryophyllene forward, while a warmer finish protects the lighter myrcene notes at the top.

The cure is where most of the flavour is lost in this country, and the reason is the weather. A 10-14 day hang wants 15-18°C at 55-60% relative humidity, which a British autumn will not give you in a spare room — a temperature-controlled cupboard or a wine fridge set to 16°C solves it for the price of one wasted harvest. Then into glass, burped twice a day for the first fortnight. The limonene layer that makes this one worth growing does not appear until somewhere between weeks three and four in the jar.

Flowering: 60-65 days. Indoor yield: up to 550 g/m2. Outdoor yield: 500-550 g. Plant height: 90-110 cm. Rated intermediate difficulty.

Flavour, aroma and effect

Gelato 33 arrives in stages. The first draw at 23% THC brings dry pepper that registers at the back of the throat. The euphoric, happy, uplifted character follows within minutes, as a head and body effect at once. The mind stays clear while the muscles let go by degrees, which is what makes it adaptable — a small dose carries an afternoon, a larger one turns into an evening. The limonene underneath adds a lift that stops it turning heavy.

Terpene breakdown

Primary: Caryophyllene · Secondary: Limonene · Tertiary: Myrcene. How this profile survives the journey from flower to vapour depends on temperature. Low vaporisation, 180-188°C, keeps the limonene and myrcene audible over the caryophyllene base. Run it hotter, or burn it, and the three collapse into one note — pleasant enough, but none of the complexity that made it worth choosing.

Who it suits

Who does well with Gelato 33? Balcony growers in flats from Brighton to Glasgow. Anyone wanting one quick outdoor crop rather than a long project. Indoor growers short of headroom. The autoflowering genetics run on their own clock, so there is no light schedule to manage, no anxiety about light leaks, and harvest comes 10-12 weeks from germination whatever the season is doing. Difficulty is rated intermediate, which means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without demanding a laboratory.

Breeding Programme
Autoflower Stabilisation (F5) — ruderalis trait fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Five generations of selection on Gelato 33 to lock the autoflower trait. Auto trigger reliability and structural balance expression both run uniform across the population — no rogue photoperiod plants in the pack.

Breeding Goal

Stabilise the recessive ruderalis trait in Gelato 33 for uniform auto-trigger.

Selection Focus

Chosen for vigour, terpene saturation and a tight finish window that allows production planning.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics select-mother programme — pollen drawn from an internally maintained reversed-female line.
