About Pineapple Express Feminised

Cured properly and opened cold, Pineapple Express leads with limonene: citrus oil off the top of the jar, nearer grapefruit pith than lemon squash, the sweetness arriving late. Underneath it caryophyllene adds a dry peppery floor, and it reads mid-palate rather than on the first pass. This 62/38 hybrid tests at 23% THC, but potency is the least interesting number here: what separates Pineapple Express from the others on the same shelf is how the aroma behaves across a cure, and that is a question of storage and patience rather than genetics alone.

Growing it for the nose rather than the scales

Chasing terpene expression in Pineapple Express pulls against chasing yield, and it is worth knowing which one you are doing before you start. The Limonene/Caryophyllene/Linalool profile does its best work in living soil, where the microbial side produces secondary compounds a bottle cannot. That is easier here than it sounds: decent peat-free compost and worm castings are a garden centre purchase in most British towns.

Through the 50-55 days indoors of bloom, stop foliar spraying after week two — anything landing on developing trichomes is still there at harvest and you will taste it. The final three weeks decide which terpenes dominate the cured flower: nights held at 16-18°C push limonene forward, while a warmer finish protects the lighter linalool notes at the top.

The cure is where most of the flavour is lost in this country, and the reason is the weather. A 10-14 day hang wants 15-18°C at 55-60% relative humidity, which a British autumn will not give you in a spare room — a temperature-controlled cupboard or a wine fridge set to 16°C solves it for the price of one wasted harvest. Then into glass, burped twice a day for the first fortnight. The caryophyllene layer that makes this one worth growing does not appear until somewhere between weeks three and four in the jar.

Flowering: 50-55 days indoors. Indoor yield: 550 g/m2. Outdoor yield: 950 g/plant. Rated intermediate difficulty.

Flavour, aroma and effect

Pineapple Express arrives in stages. The first draw at 23% THC brings a bright citrus edge that lifts off the palate immediately. The relaxed, energetic character follows within minutes, as a head and body effect at once. The mind stays clear while the muscles let go by degrees, which is what makes it adaptable — a small dose carries an afternoon, a larger one turns into an evening. The caryophyllene underneath adds a warmth that keeps the whole thing anchored.

Terpene breakdown

Primary: Limonene · Secondary: Caryophyllene · Tertiary: Linalool. How this profile survives the journey from flower to vapour depends on temperature. Low vaporisation, 180-188°C, keeps the caryophyllene and linalool audible over the limonene base. Run it hotter, or burn it, and the three collapse into one note — pleasant enough, but none of the complexity that made it worth choosing.

Who it suits

Who does well with Pineapple Express? Indoor growers who want the timeline under their own control. Outdoor growers who want to choose when flowering starts. Anyone with the room and the patience to veg it properly before flipping. Difficulty is rated intermediate, which means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without demanding a laboratory.

Backcross Stabilisation (BX2) — modern hybrid fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Pineapple Express carries clone-derived parents from the recent-era. We backcrossed twice to the dominant parent (BX2) to weld cut-specific traits into seed-stable form. Vigour and structural balance run uniform across the population.

Breeding Goal

Carry a clone-derived recent-era hybrid through to a stable seed pack.

Selection Focus

Chosen for balanced indica/sativa expression, terpene fidelity and pack-to-pack uniformity.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics select-mother programme — pollen drawn from an internally maintained reversed-female line.
