Last QC test date: 2026-09-23

Outdoor yield: 543-760 g/plant (avg across 8 verified grower reports)

About Purple Elephant Feminised

Cured properly and opened cold, Purple Elephant leads with myrcene: a heavy damp-earth note with something sweet and overripe sitting behind it. Underneath it limonene adds a bright edge that keeps the nose from turning heavy, and it reads mid-palate rather than on the first pass. This 60/40 hybrid tests at 18% THC, but potency is the least interesting number here: what separates Purple Elephant from the others on the same shelf is how the aroma behaves across a cure, and that is a question of storage and patience rather than genetics alone.

Growing it for the nose rather than the scales

Chasing terpene expression in Purple Elephant pulls against chasing yield, and it is worth knowing which one you are doing before you start. The Myrcene/Limonene/Pinene profile does its best work in living soil, where the microbial side produces secondary compounds a bottle cannot. That is easier here than it sounds: decent peat-free compost and worm castings are a garden centre purchase in most British towns.

Through the 8-9 weeks of bloom, stop foliar spraying after week two — anything landing on developing trichomes is still there at harvest and you will taste it. The final three weeks decide which terpenes dominate the cured flower: nights held at 16-18°C push myrcene forward, while a warmer finish protects the lighter pinene notes at the top.

The cure is where most of the flavour is lost in this country, and the reason is the weather. A 10-14 day hang wants 15-18°C at 55-60% relative humidity, which a British autumn will not give you in a spare room — a temperature-controlled cupboard or a wine fridge set to 16°C solves it for the price of one wasted harvest. Then into glass, burped twice a day for the first fortnight. The limonene layer that makes this one worth growing does not appear until somewhere between weeks three and four in the jar.

Flowering: 8-9 weeks. Indoor yield: 350 gr/m². Outdoor yield: 350 grams. Rated intermediate difficulty.

What Purple Elephant is actually like

Growers report creative, happy, relaxed as the defining characteristics and our own notes agree. At 18% THC this hybrid sits where the balance is the selling point. Taken small it stays functional; taken larger it relaxes properly. The ${indica}/${sativa} split means the direction is set by how much you take rather than fixed by the genetics. The Myrcene/Limonene pairing leaves earth and faint sweetness on the palate, with fruit at the end.

Best suited to most occasions — the dose does the steering.

Terpene breakdown

Primary: Myrcene · Secondary: Limonene · Tertiary: Pinene. These three build an aroma that keeps moving through the cure. Fresh off the dry it leads with myrcene; after three or four weeks sealed in glass at 16-18°C the pinene underneath comes up and the whole thing gains a layer. Vaporising between 180°C and 195°C catches the widest span of them, since the lighter pinene molecules are the first thing heat destroys.

Who it suits

Purple Elephant suits growers with the basics in place. Understand pH, rough nutrient ratios and light cycles before you commit to it; it asks for competence rather than expertise. Photoperiod genetics leave plant size and harvest date under your control — veg longer for bigger plants, or flip early when space is short. The April to October season accommodates a bloom of 8-9 weeks comfortably for outdoor growers across the country.

Filial Stabilisation (F3) — advanced refinement
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

A newer recent-era cross still being actively stabilised. F3 means three rounds of selection — the flavour saturation is locked across the bulk of the pack, with a small variant subset under continued cull.

Breeding Goal

Stabilise Purple Elephant across three rounds toward F4 production-ready stock.

Selection Focus

Chosen for terpene profile, vigour, structure and finish-time consistency.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics select-mother programme — pollen drawn from an internally maintained reversed-female line.
